Live LIFE… To The Point
Dear Readers,
When we look at the rocks, we know for sure that they symbolise ruggedness, strength and the resilience to withstand nature’s harsh elements, be it sunshine, wind, rain or snow.
While all these certainly are positive qualities, it’s rarely that rocks evoke the finer qualities of beauty and the sheer strength of human character depicted in statues of great personalities like Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose or Bhagat Singh, to name just a few,
Using the same analogy, you, I and almost everyone else around us resemble rocks that are unaware of the huge potential hidden deep within ourselves waiting to be turned into beautiful, life-like sculptures.
Unlike rocks that await external hands to chisel them into a new creation, this blog suggests ways in which each one of us can knock off our impurities, chisel away all the surplus stone and transform ourselves into a beautiful new creation.
Shifting the theme from stationery objects to movement, all of us travel for various purposes.
But can travel be fruitful sans a destination? Without that vital element, the exercise could well be a pointless one. Won’t it? Just as a group of footballers would be kicking the sphere aimlessly unless they know where the rival goal is located and act in order to breach it.
Here I am reminded of Michel De Montaigne’s profound words, “The great and glorious masterpiece of men is to live to the point”.
STEP 1: To be Successful, have A GOAL
If you want victory, you must prepare for the war. Setting the goal alone is not enough. To achieve any sense of achievement or of fulfillment, one must make things happen. So, how to achieve that goal?
Take up an idea. Make that idea your life, think of it, dream of it, live it. Accomplishing the goal should become the motto of one’s life. Be after it.
STEP 2: Having set the goal, the next step is to draw up an ACTION-PLAN to accomplish it.
Most of us live aimlessly, filling days with activities that seem important at the moment but count for little in the actual scheme of our lives.
Read the biographies, autobiographies or interviews of high-achieving men and women… They carry a tiny goal card in their wallets with deadlines indicated against each. These tiny devices constantly remind them about their goals, targets and destinations.
In doing so, they made a mark in diverse spheres.
STEP 3: Prioritising tasks and activities is of paramount importance. Hence, list down your PRIORITIES.
The people who inspire us are usually those who have themselves led challenging lives… They fought and overcame the habits that blocked progress in life.
Successful people understand the importance of pulling the trigger and firing the shot at the right time. The timing is as important as the aim of the shot.
Inappropriate timing can lay waste all the efforts. The RIGHT timing to attack a problem is always at its BEGINNING. Nip the problem when it is only a bud. It is very easy to extinguish a fire in its early stage, like in the case of a matchstick. Just a blow of one’s breath would put it out. Once the fire engulfs an entire building, putting it out it is a herculean task. The same goes with breaking a habit.
STEP 4: Break the HABIT
Habit is a settled or regular practice, especially one that is hard to give up.
Pluck bad habits before they take roots and damage the building — one’s body and mind … the temple of God.
The entire universe resides in you. Tap this inner reservoir and combat unproductive, destructive habits.
Bad habits are massive obstructions to our life goals.
So dream BIG, set Goals and then Accomplish them through Hard Work.
Or you may end up devoting the rest of life to fulfilling, not your dreams, but those of others.
The choice is yours.
God bless !!
